The sophomore class travelled to House of Hope Presbyterian Church, on Summit Ave in St Paul, to hear Dr Aaron D. Miller (http://www.aarondavidmiller.com/) perform on two of the four organs housed in the church. In addition to performing, Dr Miller described the parts of the organs (including some pipes 30 feet long), and how they worked, and permitted Mr Flaherty and several students to play the organs as well. He responded very generously to questions from both students and parents, producing an informal environment in which question and investigation were both welcome.

It was exciting and insightful to hear the music of J.S. Bach in a church setting, for which it was initially composed. And, with the kind assent of Dr Miller, we look forward to our visit next year.
