“Cell Phone or St. Augustine?” Stories from our students about the impact of a Trinity education on their lives. The series is called “Trinity Students In Their Own Words.”
Here’s our first story:
“The homework focuses you on what is good and true. Instead of I want to go on my phone for an hour, it’s No, I have to read St. Augustine right now. The homework doesn’t force you. You always have the choice. You can choose your phone over doing homework. But in the end, when you choose to read St. Augustine, it’s not only going to benefit you the next day in your class discussion, but it creates good habits. It’s more fulfilling. It’s interesting. I see how the reading connects to my faith. At the end of the night, when you’re going to bed, you think, I had a good day. I feel ready for tomorrow. Whereas, if I had spent that time on my phone, I wouldn’t feel as fulfilled.
“Last spring I took classes to be a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant). I had to do 40 hours of online work in a month. It wasn’t as hard as I expected it to be. The rigor here has helped me to balance my time and create deadlines for myself. I was used to the work.”
