Mr. Herndon teaches Humane Letters to seniors and Scripture to 11th and 12th graders. He began teaching at Trinity in 2015. He earned a Masters in Theological Studies from the University of Notre Dame in 2020.
When interviewed Mr. Herndon shared about some of his own academic interests: “I am interested in literature, philosophy, theology, and their intersections, interests which I developed during my undergraduate at Hillsdale College and continued to pursue through graduate work at the University of Notre Dame. More specifically, I spend most of my intellectual energy studying Byzantine theology (especially as articulated by monks of late antiquity like Maximus the Confessor) and its outworking in liturgical practice. I also enjoy Shakespearean drama and 20th century personalist philosophy.”
He also shared “I am consistently delighted by the enthusiasm of the students at Trinity. Our discussions require close, careful reading of texts and a lot of hard, honest thinking. But, over and over, I find that the students are up for the task, which makes teaching a joy.”
