Ƿes hāl! (Hello) from Medieval Times Camp!
Campers jumped right in the first day by talking about medieval trades and formed their own guilds of blacksmiths, armorers, squires, and falconers. They designed
banners with mottos and insignias to decorate an outdoor “guild hall.” Each guild prepared a “mystery play” (a Bible story, retold) to entertain their fellow tradesmen. They also explored manuscripts, read excerpts from medieval children’s classics, played endless games, like Nim and Nine Men’s Morris, tug-of-war, and others, and even gave archery a try.
It was a delightful week with your children, and we hope they were able to enjoy the beauty and wonder of this strange period in Western Europe called the Middle Ages!
