French Voyageur Days in 6th grade

It’s French Voyageur Days in 6th grade!

Students have been immersed in what it would’ve been like to be real 18th-century French Canadian voyageurs at the height of the North American fur trade: paddling on Lake Superior in song, portaging with heavy packs, eating beef jerky “pemmican,” and journaling about their experiences along the way. Voyageur days culminated in a live demonstration of tanning a deer hide.

Thank you to Mr. Vincent Petruccelli and Mrs. Margaret Berns for making history come alive for your students. Their delight in learning was clearly evident!
