10th-Grade Humane Letters in the Outdoor Classroom

Today’s beautiful fall weather beckoned one of the 10th-grade Humane Letters sections to the outdoor classroom!

The subject at hand: Jacques-Bénigne Bossuet’s “Politics Drawn from the Very Words of Holy Scripture.” The students paraphrased his argument in six propositions on obedience due to the prince. The discussion is part of a more extensive inquiry into Christian political philosophy and the question of when, if ever, it is right to disobey our rulers.
