Dr. Gaston Small from the Biology Department at The University of St. Thomas spoke to Dr O’Hanley’s chemistry class on Tuesday. His topic was rates of denitrification in the wetlands, based on samples taken from the Trinity wetlands during the Easter vacation. His presentation illustrated the complex relationship between nitrogen and oxygen levels and types of bacteria and algae in wetlands.
