The 8th grade Science classes took part in piloting an educational program with the University of Minnesota and NASA last week. PhD student Jeremy Wang had the students look at satellite pictures and work on a variety of hands-on projects in order to learn about the different kinds of lakes found throughout the world, about how lakes change over time, and about how to make a bathymetric map (a depth map) for lakes they made out of clay. Mr. Wang is helping develop an educational curriculum about lakes for the University – a project which is being funded by NASA. The week was a success on multiple levels and we look forward to more collaboration in the future.
